Highway clash kills 4 policemen, injures 1
A bus collided with a police car on the highway between Yangzhou and Liyang in Jiangsu Province yesterday afternoon, leaving four policemen dead and one severely injured, Yangtze Evening News reported today.
Jiangsu Provincial Public Security Bureau said the bus from Changzhou rammed into the police car from Zhenjiang about 500 meters away from the highway exit at Guazhou due to brake failure.
The bus driver was already taken away by police for investigation. All the passengers on the bus were all safe.
Photos taken at the scene showed the police car was mangled and its roof was ripped off. Bits of glass from the shattered windshield littered the road 50 meters away from the car.
Zhenjiang police said their five colleagues were on their way to handle a case when the accident occurred. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
