Highway patrol arrested for deadly accident

PROSECUTORS yesterday approved the arrest of a highway patrol in southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for causing a traffic accident that left three people dead and five injured, Xinhua reported today.
The offender surnamed Ma was driving in the wrong direction of a highway in Nanning, the regional capital, to stop a truck suspected of overloading on the night of May 3.
The truck had to stop suddenly and was hit by a coach behind. Three passengers in the coach, all male in their 30s, were killed instantly. Another five passengers, including a four-month-old baby were injured.
The case was still under investigation, Xinhua reported.
