Hit-And-Run Man Faces Capital Punishment
BEIJING prosecutors have charged a drunk hit-and-run driver who allegedly killed two people and injured another with damaging public security, which means he could face the death penalty if found guilty, yesterday's Beijing Morning Post said.
Beijing Chaoyang District People's Court has accepted the case and the trial will begin soon.
Chen Jia, a 31-year-old dance trainer, allegedly crashed into a car waiting at traffic lights at 5:30am on May 9, leading to the death of its driver Chen Weining and his six-year-old daughter. Chen Weining's wife and his friend were injured.
The indictment says the suspect was under the influence of alcohol and speeding.
