Hit-and-run driver makes U-turn to kill wounded couple

A newly married couple in eastern Shandong Province died in a traffic accident last Sunday night and a witness said they were actually hit twice as the driver made a U-turn and hit them again after seeing the injured couple was making a phone call, the Qilu Evening Post reported today.
The accident occurred at a crossroad in Anqiu City. Police still haven't identified the driver because there was no surveillance camera at the crossroad and the only witness failed to see the car plate clearly due to darkness.
The witness, a nearby villager, said the 24-year-old husband surnamed Dong and his 23-year-old wife surnamed Na were hit by a black off-road vehicle at about 10:30pm. Dong was in a coma and his wife began to dial for help.
But the vehicle suddenly returned and ran over them again before disappearing. The couple was soon sent to the hospital and died of wounds.
According to their family members, the young couple got married on July 29, less than a month.
Local police said they were trying the best to solve this case and they asked the public for clues leading to the arrest of the murderous driver.
