Hit-and-run driver nabbed after killing 2

TWO women in Dongguan, Guangdong Province were killed in a hit-and-run accident yesterday and the culprit was nabbed by police with the help of witnesses, Guangzhou Daily reported today.

One witness, surnamed Wu, said the accident happened at about 12:45am on Zhen'an Road as many workers from a nearby factory were walking home for lunch break. A black car suddenly came up at high speed. Many workers jumped aside but two young women were hit.

"One was thrown into the air and landed about 100 meters away; another landed at least 50 meters away," Wu said. "They both died instantly."

After hitting these two women, the driver didn't stop at all and drove off fast. Angry witnesses immediately called police and tried to intercept the car through a shortcut.

The car was soon found not too far the spot but the driver had run away.

The victims' colleagues told the newspaper that police had already caught the driver by noon yesterday. Police said they would reveal the driver's details after the victims' families were informed first.
