Hong Kong star denies birth deal

THE spokeswoman of former Hong Kong actress Isabella Leong has denied that Leong gave birth to three sons with Hong Kong-based Internet and telecom tycoon Richard Li as part of a monetary deal, as the unmarried couple announced their split on Saturday.
The 22-year-old former actress is now a millionaire as Hong Kong media reported yesterday that she received a mansion and a 500 million HKD (US$64.15 million) pay-off as part of the split.
Leong's agent Michelle Lo confirmed the break-up. She also -said the two will further negotiate about how to raise their three babies together, but the result will remain a private matter.
Leong, the former "Cinderella girl" of Hong Kong's big screens, issued a statement to Hong Kong media on Saturday saying: " ... The year of 2011 has come, and I have also entered a new stage of life - I have broken up with Mr Li. We once had a happy time together and we will raise our children together. It's our goal to let them grow up happy and healthy. I hope this statement can end outsiders' endless guesses on our relationship."
Local media, sourcing insiders, said Li's father, Li Ka-shing - Hong Kong's richest man and in the top 20 richest people in the world - rejected Leong as a member of Li's family due to her humble parentage. Leong finally gave up on her dream of marrying Li and plans to pick up her entertainment career.
While Leong's recent statement surprised many people, another rumor emerged in some of Hong Kong's tabloids saying that the breakup was already arranged - even before the birth of their first baby.
The rumors said Li had no intention of getting married, but had to parent children - especially sons. Therefore Li found Leong, who was in financial trouble in 2008, and reached a parental agreement.
Leong was raised by her mother, a casino dealer in Macau. Her father died shortly after Leong was born.
She dropped out of school at the age of 12 and got into showbiz. Leong -became a popular starlet in 2005 and starred in "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" in 2008.
