Hospitals running at capacity after deadly Tianjin blasts

SOME hospitals in Tianjin were filled to capacity and sending patients elsewhere after two massive blasts ripped through a warehouse and killed at least 44 people, including 12 firefighters, today.

Taida Hospital and Tianjin No. 5 Central Hospital, both near the blast site, were sending patients to the General Hospital of Tianjin and Tianjin Hospital, according to China News Agency.

The most common injuries among the patients were fractures, burns and bruises, according to the report.

At least 520 people have been hospitalized, including 66 who were critically injured.
Residents have been offering to donate blood at the city's blood center and mobile blood collection facilities after news of the explosions spread.

The Blood Center of Tianjin said it had received more than 100 people who had donated blood.
