Hostage dies

POLICE shot and arrested a man who kidnapped and wounded his former lover, who later died in hospital in east China's Jiangsu Province. The suspect, surnamed Yu, was reported to have stabbed the woman surnamed Fang a dozen times in a grocery in Nanjing City, capital of Jiangsu. Police shot and injured Yu and rushed the two to hospital. Yu was not in danger, but Fang died after losing too much blood, police said.
