Hotel bedding washed with hospital clothes
A laundry company in Changsha, Hunan Province was found washing hotel bed sheets with blood-stained clothes of hospital patients and the local industry watchdog said the company is not certified to serve medical clients.
An investigative reporter revealed that bed sheets piled on the floor of a dirty laundry workshop owned by Changsha Yongxin Cleaning Company. The windows were covered with dust and cobwebs and mildew gathered in seven splattering laundry machines.
The undercover reporter found blood-stained patient clothes from a hospital churning in the same washing machine with bed sheets from a hotel. The company used two vans to collect laundry from hospitals, according to his report on www.voc.com.cn.
But a company manager denied the allegations, saying they only have 10 hotels as clients. Local industrial and commercial inspectors made a raid on Monday but found no hospital clothes, except a few linens printed with a hospital name.
The inspectors found the company used detergent and hydrogen peroxide solution without product licenses and other inflammable chemicals. Their investigation is continuing.
