Hubei auditor's brutal death was 'suicide' – police

HUBEI police has denied rumors that an auditor of the Xiangyang District Auditing Bureau was brutally killed and thrown from the bureau's fourth floor, with his leg tendons cut off.

The police said they believed that the auditor, Cao Xinquan, had committed suicide by jumping from a fourth-floor restroom window. The exact cause of his death will be confirmed once a postmortem is completed, Chinanews.com reported.

Cao was the leader of a rural economic operating station in Huangpo Village in central China's Hubei Province and the cashier of a local company called Jinlei.

On the morning of August 26, Cao went to the auditing bureau to check the accounts of Jinlei, which had repeatedly reported financial problems. At 7pm, Cao said he was going to the restrooms, but was found on the ground outside several minutes later.

He was taken to a hospital immediately but died at 8pm.
