Hubei high court seeks removal of judge over extramarital affairs
ZHANG Jun, presiding judge of the criminal tribunal in Hubei Higher People’s Court, would be removed from office due to the discovery of an improper relationship with a woman if authorities grant a request from the court.
The court announced yesterday that it had made the removal request after an initial investigation found that Zhang had maintained improper relations with a woman over a long time.
The investigation started after a netizen uploaded video footage on Saturday claiming that Zhang had paid for sex in a hotel room in the provincial capital, Wuhan.
The netizen said the video was captured by a hotel surveillance camera on October 14. The 20-minute footage showed a man and a woman entering the hotel at around 11:10am and leaving at 1:45pm.
The netizen claimed Zhang was a chief judge in Wuhan, but authorities responded that they didn’t have a chief judge or a deputy called Zhang Jun.
