Hubei police seizes 27 people in 103kg drug haul
POLICE in central Hubei Province have arrested 27 people and seized 103 kilograms of "Magu" pills, a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine in its biggest drug haul this year.
The chief suspect Liu Benlin, 40, allegedly bought "Magu" pills from Yunnan Province and distributed them to other drug dealers in Jingzhou, Yichang and Qianjiang, all cities in Hubei Province, last year, said Jingzhou police yesterday.
The drug ring came into the view of police when the officers were investigating a separate case early this year, today's Wuhan Evening News reported.
They then set up a special team and captured two ring members last month as they were driving on a highway to deliver the drug. The two soon disclosed their hide-out, leading to the arrest of Liu and other members on July 27.
