Hugging a famed singer on stage costs an official his job
A government official in central Henan Province was sacked and placed in administrative detention for running onto a stage and hugging a well-known Chinese singer during her performance, Beijing News reported today.
Puyang City government confirmed yesterday that Wang Liuju, office director of Hucun Township, had been detained for five days after he jumped onto the stage and hugged Song Zuying as she was singing for a big audience on June 21. Wang was removed from his job because he went to see the show during work hours.
An official at the Puyang City government told the newspaper that Wang's behavior had embarrassed everyone. Song originally planned to sing three songs, but she only sang two on that day. Many people were annoyed by Wang's brazen behavior.
