A supporting actor in the popular TV spy series, "Lurk," turned out to be a fugitive who was among four men to rob and stab a policeman 13 years ago in Qiqihar, a city in northeastern Heilongjiang Province.
Ji Siguang performed supporting roles in more than 30 TV series before police received tip-offs and tracked him down in eastern Zhejiang Province on December 7, the Heilongjiang Morning News reported today.
Ji and his three partners attacked plainclothes policeman Yang Lin and his wife on the night of December 6, 1998. They seized his pistol, mobile phone and cash and stabbed him repeatedly after he revealed his identity.
Three other robbers were arrested soon after, but Ji escaped, the report said.
Ji changed his name to Zhang Guofeng and went into hiding in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province. He landed the job of a background actor in a local filmmaking base and his talent earned him supporting roles in numerous TV series. He became famous in 2009 for his role in "Lurk," which also starred Sun Honglei and Yao Chen, the report said.
Ji is now held in custody waiting for his trial, the report said.
