Husband's love pays off – wife regains speech

A HUSBAND'S devotion to his partly paralyzed wife has paid off as she can now speak again 19 years after being injured in a truck crash.
Bai Yulan, 52, a native of Qingdao City, Shandong Province, injured her brain in a truck accident in early 1991, today's Qingdao Morning Post reported.
Though she woke up after one month in a coma, she was partly paralyzed and unable to speak, her husband Song Zengquan told the newspaper.
He installed barriers rails at home to help train his wife to walk again and learned massage to help her recover. Every morning for the past 19 years, Song bathed his wife after helping her get up.
He then massaged her for half an hour followed by walking. He then cooked a meal and got Bai to practice writing. In the afternoon, they repeated the walking, massage and writing practice.
He also taught his wife to talk again. "She now can speak a little but sounds like a Zaozhuang native, following my accent rather than her original Qingdao accent," Song joked.
