IKEA safety warning over sharp-edged kids’ beds
IKEA is urging customers who bought two types of children’s beds in China to get in touch, after safety issues were reported overseas.
The Swedish home furnishings giant posted a statement on its Chinese website yesterday alerting customers who bought the Kritter model produced between April 3, 2011 to May 31, 2013, and the Sniglar bed made between April 3, 2011 and May 4, 2013.
Problems have been reported with exposed sharp edges on the beds.
Consumers in China are asked to contact IKEA’s after-sales service department to obtain a free repair kit.
IKEA said it sold 6,079 of the beds from the affected batches in China by the end of 2012, but didn’t give sales numbers in Shanghai.
These models are no longer available in China.
The company hasn’t heard from customers yet, an IKEA official said yesterday.
No cases of injuries linked to the beds have been reported in China, the official added.
IKEA said that countries affected by the faulty beds include Britain, China, Malaysia, the Netherlands and Norway.
