IPR campaign launched
THE Ministry of Public Security has ordered a fresh crackdown on the infringement of well-known foreign and domestic brands' intellectual property rights.
Greater efforts must be made to fight the production and sale of pirated books, audio, video, software, medicine, food and agricultural products, Liu Jinguo, deputy minister of public security, said in Beijing on Friday, according to a statement posted on the ministry's website yesterday.
The special nationwide campaign began on Friday and will end in March 2011.
At a November 5 meeting, Premier Wen Jiabao urged government agencies to target the root causes of IPR infringement.
The ministry said police in a special March 2006 operation uncovered 3,775 cases of IPR infringement.
