HONG Kong reported 104 new cases of HIV infection in the first quarter of 2009, the Center for Health Protection of the Hong Kong government announced yesterday.
Of the 104 cases, which comprised 80 males and 24 females, 25 acquired the infection via heterosexual contact, 40 via homosexual contact, two through drug injections, and two through mother-to-child transmission. The routes of transmission of the remaining 35 cases were undetermined due to inadequate information.
