Inmate dies in attempted prison break

A prisoner was electrified to death when he attempted to break through a high-voltage electrical network during his escape from a jail in Weifang City, east China's Shandong Province.
Zou Chao, 25, who was sentenced to death with a reprieve for murder and theft, started his jail term in the facility from October 2009, the Beijing News reported today.
Zou crawled through a bathroom window on the evening of October 23. Soon afterwards prison guards started to search for him.
A guard fired a warning shot after seeing Zou running on the roof. Zou ignored the warning and still tried to jump across the electrical network. He got electrified and died at the scene.
