Inner Mongolia official faces graft investigation

A MINISTERIAL-level official in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is being investigated for alleged violations, the Central Party Disciplinary Investigating Committee said as a nationwide anti-corruption campaign continues.

The committee didn't disclose the allegations against Wang Suyi, 52, director of the United Front Work Department and a member of the local standing Party committee.

Wang is an ethnic Mongolian and his political career dates back to 1982, when he worked for traffic and energy departments, and later the governments of Bayannur Prefecture and Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia's capital, according to his official profile.

President Xi Jinping has vowed to root out corruption, warning that if it is allowed to run wild, the Party risks major unrest and collapse of its rule.

Sichuan Province's former deputy Party chief Li Chuncheng was fired for graft and is still being investigated.

In two recent cases, Ni Fake, former vice governor of Anhui Province, and Liu Tienan, deputy chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, received Party investigation in June and May respectively.
