It's not extinct tiger ... but what is it?
OFFICIALS in east China's Jiangxi Province said yesterday that a mysterious animal photographed by a tourist last month was not the supposedly extinct South China tiger.
After investigations at the site, experts have concluded the animal photographed at Sanqing Mountain in Jiangxi Province could not be the South China tiger, the head of the province's Wild Animal Protection Bureau told Jxnews.com.cn, yesterday.
But experts have not offered an explanation of what the mysterious animal is.
The animal protection bureau dispatched experts to the scene after a tourist from Anhui Province spotted and snapped a yellow, 2-meter-long wild animal at Sanqing Mountain.
The tourist took four pictures of the animal but was unsure if it was a tiger.
The South China tiger has not been seen in the wild for more than 20 years.
