Jackie Chan dogged by 'empty promise' claim

KUNG FU film star Jackie Chan is facing public scrutiny after the headmaster of a school rebuilt after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake said his school did not receive a penny of promised donation from Chan.

Liu Yachun, the principle of Beichuan Middle School, told reporters at the school's opening ceremony on Wednesday that Chan failed to meet his commitment that he would donate part of the proceeds of his new film "Little Big Soldiers," which earned 153 million yuan (US$22 million ) from mainland cinemas this year.

A donor list on the website of Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Foundation of China, which is managing charity work for the school, showed neither Chan nor his personal charity foundation had given any help, today's overseas Chinese News reported.

Dang Qun, general secretary of Chan's Beijing foundation, confirmed that they didn't send any money to the school.

Chan's agent was not available for comment at the time, said the report.
