Jailed for threats
LEW Mon-hung, a former vice chairman of Hong Kong-listed company Pearl Oriental Oil, was sentenced to 18 months in jail for perverting the course of justice when he appeared at Hong Kong District Court yesterday. Lew, 67, was accused of writing threatening e-mails and letters to Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying and head of the region’s graft-buster Peh Yun-lu over an investigation into a fraud case relating to Pearl Oriental Oil. Lew was acquitted in the fraud case in May last year.
