Janitor dies after student attack

A SCHOOL janitor in southwestern China died on Friday after being attacked by eight students.
Yuan Zuxiang, died at 9:50am at a medial center in Lufeng County, Yunnan Province, according to Shanghai Morning Post.
But Qinfeng Junior High School has denied Yuan was beaten to death by students and said he suffered from a cardiac disease.
Yuan's sister said Yuan visited her at about 9am on Friday asking that she take him to a medical center. She said he was sweating heavily and was doubled up.
Yuan told his sister he had been beaten up by eight students at midnight after asking two students to return to their dormitories.
Yuan had been patrolling the campus at 11pm on Thursday and found two students talking together. He suggested they go back to their dorms and sleep.
But an hour later Yuan found the boy and girl still talking..
Yuan asked them to return to their dorms again and walked back to his room.
Soon afterwards two windows in his room were smashed and when he went outside to see who had done this he was attacked by the students. Some kicked him and others beat him with mop handles.
After the attack Yuan called the headmaster but the students had climbed over a wall and run away.
Yuan did not go to hospital that night but felt unwell the next morning. While he was having breakfast with his sister he fell from his chair yelling in pain.
He was seriously ill by the time he got to the medical center and died after emergency treatment.
Yuan served the school as a janitor more than 10 years and was elected a model worker by the school in 2004.
Yuan's family said Yuan had suffered from a hereditary cardiac disease but was always in good condition.
The school authority has promised Yuan's family 12,000 yuan (US$1,758) for Yuan's funeral.
No post mortem results have been announced yet.
