Japan next on premier timetable
PREMIER Wen Jiabao arrived in Tokyo yesterday afternoon for a three-day state visit to Japan.
The trip comes after a summit involving China, Japan and host nation South Korea where a blueprint mapping out cooperation in the region over the next decade was formulated.
The talks were also attended by South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama.
Wen said the three nations should adopt a long-term approach to the steady recovery and future growth of region's economy and work together to this end.
While serving as major manufacturing and trade powers, the three countries should push for sustainable development, Wen said.
They should accelerate the transformation of economic growth by vigorously developing a green economy focused on recycling and conducting scientific and technological innovation, he added.
Wen also called for greater efforts to promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges among the three countries.
They should join hands to promote the ideas of friendship, tolerance and harmony and broaden exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, tourism and the media, he said.
