Judges are told to resist 'meddling'
CHINA'S Chief Justice has told judges to resist local authorities who try to impede public litigation against them.
Courts and judges must properly handle administrative litigations to protect the public's rights and supervision of administrative bodies, Wang Shengjun, president of the Supreme People's Court, told a legal conference in Dongguan, Guangdong Province.
A major function of administrative litigation was to supervise government practice and correct violations, SPC Vice President Jiang Bixin told yesterday's conference. He urged judges to oppose local policies upholding protectionism, or meddling from local authorities, in trials.
