Junkman arrested on suspicion of killing female night jogger

POLICE caught a junkman early this morning on suspicion of killing a woman during a night-run in Baoji City, northwestern Shaanxi Province, thepaper.cn reported.

The victim surnamed Lu, a young female teacher from Baoji University of Arts and Sciences, went missing around the Weihe Park after she went for a night jogging on October 14. Her body was found in bushes of the local park six days later, it reported.

Police followed clues and nabbed the suspect around 1am today. He was identified as a junkman hailing from Henan province, it reported.

Details weren’t exposed as a further police investigation is under way, it reported. But clues exposed by local media reports suggest the victim might have been sexually assaulted before she was killed.

Police are warning night joggers to raise awareness of self-protection as lone night joggers are easy to fall prey to street crimes.
