KFC and Pizza Hut hurt by hoax

POLICE in Zhejiang Province are tracing a hoaxer who placed a take-out order for 4,700 yuan (US$ 709) worth of food to two fast-food stores but never showed up.

The managers of a KFC outlet and a Pizza Hut store in Haishu District, Ningbo City, complained they had to dump all food they made in a rush and to the inconvenience of other customers, local Modern Gold Express reported today.

The man called the KFC store at 10:30am on Tuesday, ordering dozens of chicken and beverages at 1,700 yuan to be sent to Tianning Building before 11 am, said the store manager surnamed Zhu.

The man refused to give the room number but said he would come to take the food at the building gate. The telephone number he left also turned out to be bogus.

Shortly after the dummy call, the man dialed the Pizza Hut, placing an order for nearly 3,000 yuan of pizzas and beverages to the same building within half an hour, said the store manager surnamed Xia.
