Killer linked to four previous murders

POLICE in central China's Hunan Province are offering a 200,000 yuan (US$29,000) reward for a killer who has been linked to four previous murders.

Police released a facial composite yesterday of the suspect who shot dead salesman Guo Chaoyun, 41, and stole 45,000 yuan from him near a bank last Friday in Tianxin District of the provincial capital of Changsha.

A bank clerk who saw the shooting helped compile the sketch of a stout man in his 40s with a crewcut, reported Web portal hunan.voc.com.

Ballistic evidence linked the killer with another shooting in the city on October 14, when a 56-year-old man was shot six times and died in Nanjiao Park.

Victim Li Chengshou was a farmer who had just arrived in town to help look after his grandchild.

The facial composite also resembles the suspect in two robberies in Chongqing Municipality in 2004 and 2005.

During these, the suspect killed three people and injured two, while stealing a total of 170,000 yuan.

Except for the random killing in October, all three other cases took place near a bank and all the victims were shot in the face, the report said.
