Killer of 3 judges 'planned attack'

A MAN who killed three judges and injured three more before shooting himself in a Hunan Province court had been planning the attack for more than a week, Beijing Times reported today.

Zhu Jun, head of a security squad of a China Post office, barged into an office in Lingling District Court, shooting three judges dead and injuring three court officials with a submachine gun and two pistols.

Zhu's colleagues in the security squad said he was a bad shooter. But Zhu asked Yang Hongwei, the team's crack shot, last week to teach him how to use a submachine gun, the report said.

Yang said he thought Zhu had been planning the attack since then.

Hunan police are now investigating the squad's three firearms keepers for dereliction of duty.

A colleague surnamed Lei said he never thought Zhu could have done such a thing as he seemed a gentleman.

The report quoted an unnamed insider saying Zhu had left a suicide note before the rampage. But the note was not made public.

After the attack, all courts in Beijing have stepped up their security measures, the report added.
