Killer of 8 executed


A FARMER in east China's Jiangxi Province has been executed for killing eight people, including his mother, wife and daughter.

The execution was carried out on July 15 on Zhou Yezhong, 36, in Jiangxi's Ji'an City, China News Service reported today.

According to Ji'an City Intermediate People's Court, Zhou, a farmer from Ji'an's Jishui County, was in a tense relationship with his wife over his long gambling habit.

On May 8, Zhou again had a quarrel with his wife. After his wife left home, he killed his 10-year-old daughter Zhou Xiaomin and then killed his 80-year-old mother despite her kneeling down to beg him to spare her.

He later stormed into a neighbor's home and killed wife Kang Qiuying, 36, neighbor Hu Dongsheng and Hu's mother Wu Xiu, 83. He also killed villagers Ye Wen'e and Zhou Nianmei as well as Zuo Huasheng, a migrant who was working in the county.


Police caught Zhou two hours later.
