A grey wolf that reportedly killed two villagers and wounded five others in Tengzhou, eastern Shandong Province was shot dead by police yesterday.
Tengzhou police have received reports of five wolf attacks since last Wednesday. The wolf bit an eight-year-old boy and a 62-year-old woman to death and hurt five others, including a four-year-old boy, the local Qilu Evening News reported today.
Police found the traces of the wolf around 2:30pm yesterday and hunted down the beast after over two hours of pursuit involving more than 100 officers.
Hearing about the wolf's death, local villagers lit firecrackers to celebrate, but police said they couldn't confirm if the killed wolf was the one that attacked people until tests are made, the paper said.
