Kindergarten officials detained after fatal bus crash

POLICE in Loudi City of Hunan Province yesterday detained the director of a kindergarten and the school bus driver over an accident on Monday evening in which four children died。

Twenty-six children were injured and five are still hospitalized for treatment, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Police said the director Liu Yindi asked the driver Deng Linjun to carry 30 children home on the school bus which is only allowed to carry 11 passengers.

Liu and Deng are couple.

The bus rolled over into a pond when taking a corner downhill. The report said bus rolled because it was overloaded.

Four of the children drowned.

The Springfield Flower Kindergarten had been approved by the local education bureau with 268 children, according to the report.
