Kindergarten teacher fired

A kindergarten teacher in Nanjing, capital city of eastern China's Jiangsu Province, has been fired for ordering a boy to slap several others' faces as punishment for having chats during lunchtime.

The kindergarten has apologized for the incident, saying the teacher, surnamed Luo, was fired the day after an outraged parent revealed the incident online, saying her daughter was slapped in the face three times last Friday.

The incident came as a surprise to parents because the facility is listed as a high-quality kindergarten by the provincial education bureau, according to yesterday's report on Jiangsu Television Station.

"I trembled with anger when I heard of it!" said one online post on the popular online forum Tianya.cn last Saturday. "It's so disgusting! Luo even forced my six-year-old girl to lie to me, saying Luo didn't force a naughty boy to beat them. How dare Luo ruin our kids."

Geng Changqing, the headmaster of the kindergarten school, soon confirmed the incident.

"We will never allow such acts," he promised, according to the television report.
