Knife-wielding abductor shot dead
A MAN who abducted three women at knifepoint in a southern China city was yesterday shot dead by police.
The suspect took two women hostage using a kitchen knife at a community in Bao'an District of Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, about 9am, according to police, Xinhua news agency reported.
The two hostages escaped but the suspect seized a cashier at a supermarket and forced her to walk out of the store with him.
He dragged her into a security guard kiosk at a parking lot of a nearby community and slapped her head with the side of the knife.
Police officers arrived at the scene and urged the suspect to release the hostage. After warning the suspect many times, several officers shot him.
The hostage was sent to hospital immediately but was not seriously injured.
