Knife-wielding kidnapper shot dead in Guangdong

POLICE today shot dead a suspect who held a two-year-old girl at knifepoint for three hours when negotiation failed in Zhuhai City, southern Guangdong Province.
The man in his 30s kidnapped the girl with a kitchen knife around 8am this morning in Nanping Town of Zhuhai, the local Nanfang Daily reported.
Police fired two shots and killed the suspect after a three-hour negotiation failed to persuade him to release the girl.
The girl suffered minor cuts in her throat and was sent to a hospital for treatment.
The man had attempted to kidnap an old woman and a boy but failed.
Police investigation is still ongoing.
