Knife-wielding man kills 6 in Beijing

A man armed with a knife stabbed six people to death and injured several others at noon in a village of Beijing's Huairou District, China News Service reported today.

The 34-year-old suspect surnamed Zhao was nabbed at the scene, while the injured were sent to nearby hospitals, police said.

Zhao was believed to have carried out the attack over a family property dispute, an initial investigation showed.

Zhao’s family claimed he has a history of mental illness, the report said.

A further investigation is still underway.
