Knife-wielding man shot dead in Sichuan

A middle-aged man was shot dead this morning for slashing at crowds with two knives in Ziyang City in southwest China's Sichuan Province, police said.
The suspect, surnamed Wei, stabbed and injured two police officers when he was caught, according to the Ziyang Public Security Bureau.
Police shot him to prevent him from hurting more people.
A previous investigation showed that Wei had a history of mental illness.
