Korean Air to resume Seoul-Urumqi direct flights

KOREAN Air said on Saturday it plans to resume direct flights from Seoul to Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Uygur Autonomous Region, starting May 27.

By resuming the flights, Korean Air hopes to provide more convenience to travelers and business people traveling between the two cities, the Korean carrier said in a press release.

The flight will operate twice per week until October 12. With the flight number KE883, the Boeing 737-800 aircraft will leave Seoul at 7:40pm every Tuesday and Thursday local time and arrive in Urumqi at 12:10 a.m. the next morning.

The return flight KE884 will take off from Urumqi every Wednesday and Friday at 1:20am and reach Seoul at 7am local time.

Founded in 1969, Korean Air carried over 23 million passengers in 2013. The carrier operates over 240 flights to 23 Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou and Nanjing, more than any other foreign airline serving China.
