Kung fu star donates historic buildings to Singapore
HONG Kong action movie star Jackie Chan has donated some historic sandalwood buildings to the Singapore government.
Chan had applied for a land to exhibit the buildings in Hong Kong for years but did not receive a positive response.
The ancient buildings include seven large houses from the Qing (1644-1911) and Ming (1368-1644) dynasties and an opera pavilion he bought 20 years ago, Sina.com reported today.
He has spent millions of yuan maintaining and storing the buildings over the past 10 years, according to the report.
Chan said he would donate the treasures to Singapore at a recent charity event there, and the Singapore Government said it would provide land beside a university and pay for transportation and construction and two years boarding fees for workers.
