Language training boss charged of rape

THE president of a well known language training company in China was convicted of rape by prosecutors in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, today.

Luohu District People's Procurators Office confirmed the charge today but gave no detail.

Song Shanmu, 46, is the founder and president of Sunmoon Lifelong Education Group before his arrest. He was accused of raping a 22-year-old intern on May 3.
The woman reported to police saying she was lured to Song's apartment after she told him about her resignation.

She said Song threatened to kill her, forced her to pose for naked photos, and raped her.

Song was arrested on May 20 and has been removed from the school's board of directors. He was replaced by his wife Li Muzi, who is the school's vice president.

Some of Song's former employees have joined the victim and accused Song of frequently sexual harassment in the company.

East China Normal University in Shanghai has removed benefactor Song's name from one of its buildings as many students thought it was a shame.
