The Xichang Satellite Launch Center has been closed amid final testing and checking. The No.2 launch pad, designed to handle a maximum load of 300 tons and strap-on booster rockets, is chosen for the launching mission.
The Long March 3C Rocket, 54.84 meters tall, can handling a maximum take-off weight of 345 tons and will send the 2.48-tons Chang'e 2 straight into its orbit.
A fleet of three ships will be positioned in Pacific Ocean to monitor the launch.
