Lawmaker On Trial
ZHANG Jiameng, former vice chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee in east China, went on trial yesterday in Xiamen on charges of accepting bribes. Zhang, 55, is accused of taking 7.35 million yuan (US$1.15 million) in bribes between 1996 and 2007.
He is said to have acquired advantages for five companies and individuals in business, land acquisition and evading criminal charges.
