Lawmaker accused of abandoning love child

A WOMAN’S claims that she was the mistress of a lawmaker in Henan Province and that he abandoned their baby daughter are being investigated by the authorities.

The woman, Li Shanhan, also alleged online that Luo Zhiyuan, a deputy to the 11th and 12th Henan Provincial People’s Congress and chairman of Henan Zhiyuan Food Group, had bought his congress place.

A joint investigation group has now been established to look into the allegations, said officials in Luyi County.

Li posted photographs showing the lawmaker in bed with her and of him holding a baby, believed to be their daughter.

Screenshots of text messages posted also suggested that Luo had paid to become a congress member.

However, Luo denies this claim, insisting that Li was trying to blackmail him, reported The Beijing News.

Li said she had fallen out with Luo over child support payments and filed a lawsuit.

One message posted showed that Li had 27 million yuan (US$4.45 million) in a bank account, but Li said the cash had nothing to do with Luo.

The Luyi government investigation group will include officials and police.

Luo was reported to be abroad on a business trip, and the panel urged him to return home as soon as possible.

Luyi County officials said Luo had been elected to Henan Provincial People’s Congress in 2007 and 2012, and that his company was well run.

The Luyi County People’s Court accepted the case of child support dispute filed by Li against Luo last December.
