Lei Feng comes to life on screen
A TELEVISION drama series about China's most respected soldier, Lei Feng, is set to be completed by October 1 to mark the 60th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China, producers announced yesterday.
Shooting for the 8-million-yuan (US$1.17 million) 20-episode series starts this month.
Lei Feng was born into a poor peasant family in 1940 and died in an accident in 1962 while serving in the Chinese People's Liberation Army. After his death it was discovered through his diaries he had helped many people and made many donations.
Lei Feng will be played by Yu Shaoqun, who has become known for his role in "Forever Enthralled," a film about great Peking Opera artist Mei Lanfang.
