Leung Chun-ying wins HK's chief executive election
LEUNG Chun-ying, former convenor of the Non-Official Members of the Executive Council of Hong Kong, has won the election of the fourth-term Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region today, according to vote counting by local media.
According to local TV channel i-Cable, Leung won 679 out of 1,044 total votes. Henry Tang, former chief secretary of the city government, won 285 votes. Albert Ho, a lawmaker, who is also head of a local political party, took 80 votes.
According to the city's Electoral Affairs Commission, a candidate who obtains more than 600 valid votes will win the election.
The official voting result is expected to be verified and declared by Returning Officer Justice Poon Shiu-chor soon.
