LI Zhanshu was elected chairman of the 13th National People’s Congress Standing Committee on Saturday at the annual session of China’s national legislature.
Li, 68, is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
Nearly 3,000 lawmakers also elected 13 vice chairmen and a vice chairwoman as well as the secretary-general of the NPC Standing Committee.
