Local governments write up income targets

SEVERAL Chinese provinces including Heilongjiang, Guizhou and Gansu have drawn plans to increase the per capita income of local residents, today's Beijing Times reported.

Heilongjiang's 12th Five-Year Plan stated that the per capita disposable income of its urban and rural residents will grow by more than 12 percent during the 2010-2015 period, said an official with the Heilongjiang Reform and Development Commission.

Tianjin Municipality, Shanxi and other provinces are still waiting for the central government approval for their income plans.

The report of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China said the country's GDP as well as the per capita income of its urban and rural residents will double by 2020.

The central and western parts of China will post faster income growth than coastal areas as they have more potentials for economic development.
