Lottery player wins record 497m yuan jackpot

A lottery ticket buyer scored a windfall of 497 million yuan (US$80.46 million) yesterday, the biggest jackpot in the history of China Sports Lottery.
The individual purchased 60 Super Lotto tickets with the same number combination for 180 yuan in Zibo City, Shandong Province, at around 6pm yesterday, according to China Sports Lottery’s website.
The prize money exceeds the previous record of 256 million yuan won by an individual in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, on June 27, 2012.
