Lucky draw for men who marry Vietnamese wives

A group purchase website has launched a “lucky draw” campaign for single Chinese guys if they find a Vietnamese bride.

The campaign is just one of the several online promotions that seeks to win attention ahead of the Single’s Day, which falls on November 11.

The website 55tuan.com is promising a round-trip ticket refund for the lucky draw winner if he succeeds marrying a Vietnamese woman.

By late yesterday, more than 9,300 men had signed up for the travel promotion event.

The winner has to first provide a legal certificate to prove his single status before he embarks on his wife-searching mission across the border.

He also has to present a cross-country marriage certificate in order to be eligible for the prize which can win up to 20,000 yuan (US$3,278).

Interested single men must sign up for the lucky draw on the website before November 13. Those who share the campaign information on Sina and Tencent microblogs stand a better chance in the lucky draw, 55tuan.com said.

The winner to be eligible for the prize must tie the knot by November 11, 2014.

The website said the campaign was intended for Chinese men who are finding it tough to get married because of the gender imbalance in the country as well as increasingly demanding Chinese women who want affluent husbands with apartments and cars.

The Vietnamese women are more family-oriented, diligent and obedient to their husbands, the website claimed.
